![]() ![]() However, I think it's unfair to say that there is not a lot to do in the game. I agree about getting the fun in the game, and hopefully with what Sean Tracy said in regards to ToW, they will be focusing on that more and more. One map might get boring eventually, but if they can add a few new maps a year and also change up the vehicles from time to time too (or just in different maps) then this should in theory keep players very well satisfied even while the SC PU becomes more fleshed out with each patch and of course up until eventual PU release. ToW (Theaters of War) - If they can deliver a BF:2142 like experience, this game mode is absolutely what we have all been craving, even more so than AC and SM could possibly provide, in terms of rock solid pick up and play fun. Im sure with a game crafted like this players will have genuine fun replaying the entire game dozens of times doing things a completely different way each time. I really hate players like that, but I digress), but also because of the extreme dynamic range and replayability every mission will have. There will undoubtedly be 100s of hours worth of fun there not only because they're apparently creating a deep experience with almost 30 chapters (although, woe be unto the player that sets everything on "easy" mode and breezes through the game. SQ42- the single player campaign which is arguably taking up far more resources and time from CIG than the PU is at the moment, should be delivered well before SC is ready for "release" as a commercial MMO. I agree with yours and u/badnewsbaron's current and upcoming prognosis, however there's two additional things that need to be mentioned here. That has nothing to do with the complexity of gameplay, which has been pretty complex for a while, and growing more complex over time. All SOCS will do is allow the expansion of the play field and entities per server. It has been had the same type of gameplay as elite did for a while now (and more). Interactivity already existed well before SOCS came online, with mining, dogfighting, mercenary missions, cargo and package deliveries, as well as mission givers that are so real you'd think you're watching a cutscene. SOCS was never an excuse for lack of interactivity. So already there is a whole lot to do on this land area, and there is more and more coming with each new release. With the addition of harvestables and hand mining there is even more reason to explore, and once they add in fauna and more atmospheric NPC activity, even more still. Yea there are not cities covering every square inch of a planet (except for arc corp of course), or mission arcs that take hours to complete, but the flora and differing biomes make it interesting to actually traverse planets and see what lies around the next corner. I would also debate the notion that there is less to explore than many RPGs with smaller maps. May not seem like a huge difference, but it's what makes SC feel alive and interesting and elite dead and boring. SC is much more hand crafted, with all the cities and outposts they have, probably more like 95% procedural 5% hand crafted.
